Visiting Dept of Carvings

The presidency of the University of Kufa visits the Department of Carvings in the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali (a.s.) to see the preparations underway to celebrate the year of the Commander of Believers (a.s.), 1440 AH.
    Faculty of Education/ Information Section … Dr Hasan al-Zubaidi, the administrative assistant of the rector of Kufa University and the chairman of the preparatory committee of 1440 AH Festival, Prof. Dr Ali Khdhayir Hejji, dean of the Faculty of Education, and a number of lecturers have visited the Department of Carvings and Heritage Revival in the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali (a.s.) and were acquainted with the continuous preparations for the festival which will be held in cooperation with the Shrine. All the needed requirements of the opening day, such as flags, a glassware exhibition, symbolic gifts and others are being prepared. The delegation toured the department workshops in the divisions of Laser, Drawing and Design, Manual and Electronic Embroidery, Sewing, Engraving on alabaster and wood, and painting on glass, etc. Also, they were familiar with a side of the handicraft works carried out by specialized workshops. Al-Zubaidi said that the University of Kufa is open to civil society organizations and state institutions especially the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali (a.s.) because of its prominent role in serving Iraqi society and highlighting the bright side of the civilization and Islamic history of Najaf, stressing opening horizons of cooperation between the University and the Shrine. In turn, al-Hejji stressed the continuity of efforts for the success of the festival through intensive meetings and field visits, expressing his full thanks to all the departments of the Shrine for their collaboration with the university in various fields.
