The Battle of Baheeza

A workshop at the Faculty of Education/ Kufa University  discusses The Battle of Baheeza
    Faculty of Education/ Information Section … The Faculty of Education at Kufa University has held a workshop to discuss the battle happened between the British forces and the tribes of the Middle Euphrates in the district of Baheeza north of Nasiriyah. Dr Abdulal al-Eesawi, a lecturer at the faculty, delivered a lecture in which he talked about the strong resistance of those tribes and their fight against the British occupying forces, especially in the fierce battle of Baheeza. Al-Eesawi stressed that that battle told the British that imposing domination on some parts of Iraq is impossible. Also, he pointed out that the British sought to create a loyal and guaranteed base of some tribes’ elders through various monetary and moral temptations and administrative appointments as well as exempting them from taxation and granting them donations and farmlands.
